MAH RESIDENCE

The building area was wide and shallow, and situated several feet below the street, with a narrow access for a driveway. These conditions dictate an very wide house, so the idea was to separate the structure into several elements of different colors, geometries, and materials, in order to maintain an  interesting presentation to the street.

 

Since the house fronts on a busy street, the windows facing the street were minimized, particularly those at the upper level along the hall serving the bedrooms. The views are from the rear, where expansive frameless glass was utilized. A polished concrete floor and a curved, floating metal stair complete an organic modern interior theme.

The house was built in 2004 and purchased by author Adeline Mah. Skateboard champion Nyjah Huston purchased the home in 2018.
